Acupressure

Acupoints can be stimulated by using hands or certain simple tools, such as a vibrator/massager instead of needles, which is called acupressure, i.e. massage on acupoints. Its mechanisms are the same as for acupuncture. There are eight kinds of basic stimulating methods for acupressure: pressing, pushing (thumb thrusting), grasping (or shaking), hammering (or tapping), rubbing, chaffing, kneading, and pinching methods, which are simple, very easy to learn.

Acupressure can be completes by patients themselves, which is called self-acupressure and can be applied for various kinds of common symptoms in family care. Based on the symptoms, fifteen minutes or half hour each time, once or several times a day is recommended.
